PostSubject: The Festival of Malorne   The Festival of Malorne Icon_minitimeMon Jul 27, 2009 2:36 pm

The Festival of Malorne will be taking place in early September in Astranaar, Ashenvale.

The festival will be in three parts - the first, a hunt through the forests to gather the gifts that our world gives to us; the second, a feast in Astranaar prepared by attendees; the third, a firework celebration and short ceremony giving thanks to Malorne.

All are invited to attend any part of the festival. More details will follow soon.

Engineers are wanted to help produce fireworks - please leave your details here if you are able to help...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OOC: The idea is that the festival will also provide opportunities to improve skinning, cooking and fishing, as well as gaining experience for lower levels.
More details, including a date, to follow - if there are any dates you wouldn't be able to make, please post here!
Yes!
We need to set a date, preferrably soonish (I suggest tuesday or thursday next week, 7th and 9th, but that may be a bit too soon to get the word out).
We need to discuss how to do it (there are suggestions about this sort of event, but they need to be fleshed out).
Talk online asap?
Hm, I apparently missed you. Shame. I'll be on Leia tonight, as the 'Maidens have a guild meeting, but I'll keep an eye out for you. Also, if Drázill or Lysi have any comments, by all means toss 'em here.
I mentioned the basic idea to some of the 'Maidens, and they were thrilled... almost worryingly so ;-) I'm sure they would be willing to lend assistance, not to mention the Druids of the Wild, if we poke them. If you like, I can aska round.
I might be on tonight but I'm not sure yet - depends on whether I have to go help with the hay baling...
I have to go help with the hay baling, so I probably won't be on tonight. Will you be on tomorrow night? And Draz?
Yeah, ask around - I'll nudge a few people too.
An absolutely wonderful idea and something we have talked about in the past and resently. I think this type of event would be welcomed greatly in the community and is something that works well for our guild on a story-based level.
Also, I did mention before during the first TGU meeting that I had intended on having a "Great Hunt" to commemorate the fallen over the past years, unfortunately due to inactivity and time constraints it did not come into fruition.THis is the perfect event to get the ball moving. Kudos Kallar! ^^
On the matter of help from other guilds, I think perhaps it would be best to keep this event very much a Warden organised one, open to everyone, but organised solely by the Wardens of Malorne. Putting our stamp on it. That way we will be able to possibly run it every year(thinking ahead) and our guild name will come to be associated with the event, helping recruitment to out circle along the way.
It might just be me, but I think we'd all like to show that we are capable of organising events ourselves, seeing as all other RP Guilds on the server have at one time or another held an event themselves.
On the matter of a date, I think this might be suited to some time during the Harvest Festival, would be most befitting.
Again a fantastic idea Kallar. ^^
I'm usually online every night, look for either Naurion or Leiandrea.
The 'Maidens are planning a Harvest Festival of their own, no date set at this moment but somewhere in the vicinity of the 21st - 23rd. Probably on the weekend, but not sure. I utterly agree that this Hunt should happen around this time also, we just need to make sure it doesn't happen the SAME day.
It strikes me that we could see if there are any Tauren RPers who would be interested in attending, as the Shu'halo have a myth concerning Malorne and a hunt... all in the name of strengthening the Cenarion ties. It could be controversial of course, so just a loose idea.
Anyway, my suggestion stands as before:
* Gather in some nice starting location, such as the Shrine of Aessina (or wherever we decide to hold it) to say a few opening remarks about the purpose of the event, and an opening prayer.
* Spread out in a pre-defined area or along a preset route, hunt and gather (kill beasts, loot and skin them, pick herbs, mine ore...)
* Assemble after a set time to divide loot according to some scheme... One could suggestthat we "sacrifice" some of it, as in giving back to Nature, but I'd actually prefer if we made sure that none of the gathered material was wasted.
* Make closing remarks, prayers and blessings, and then have a feast, complete with food and dancing.
Oh! And one more thing...
Should we wear our "uniforms"? I'll probably come in Forest or Wild Leathers anyway.
The Stag and the Moon I think? If we can't find a Tauren maybe someone could just tell the story?
Better have a few people willing to escort lower level people to the shrine so they don't get killed by the wildlife, but I think the shrine would be a great setting.
I found these maps of mining and herbalism locations:
Herbalism: The Festival of Malorne Herbal10
Mining: The Festival of Malorne Mining10
I'd suggest ending at Astranaar. Maybe people could offer to make things for other people as well, with cooking and leatherworking, etc? Have it as an opportunity to share things - it's useful to know who the various crafters are anyway!
Just a few things from me:
*As far as those taking part are concerned, I believe it may be best to split into groups and explore the entire of Ashenvale. With a Warden designated to each group for "protection" and guidance.
*The uniforms are almost ready to be distributed and I believe it would be a great idea to wear them during this...All I need to do now is get my hands on that malorne set...>.<
*Judging by the maps there is a healthy spread of materials around the entire of Ashenvale so a cover of the whole region would work well in my opinion.
*The Shrine of Aessina would be a great place to start, but I think we need to scout out some regions of Ashenvale suitable for a gathering and the hosting of a feast. Astranaar is nice, but If we start in the wilds I think we should end in the wilds.
What about ending by a moonwell? There's on by Iris lake:
The Festival of Malorne Shaeldryn%27s_Moonwell
or another by Silverwing Outpost:
The Festival of Malorne Southern_Moonwell
although I think the Horde uses that one sometimes...
I like the idea about ending at a Moonwell, and the Iris lake one is rather undisturbed, other than by those on the Raene's Cleansing quest chain. The path up there is full of bears, but hey, it's a hunt, right?
Another option is to end at Silverwind Refuge, a nice, small settlement that is also out of the way but easy to find. The disadvantage of that place is that the road goes through a furbolg village...
I can definitely agree to handling a group of participants and guide them through a selected region of Ashenvale. We could, for ease of communication, start a chat channel such as /greathunt or /malornefestival, and then each take a group of five participants.
The 'Maidens are to have a new guild meeting this coming thursday the 9th, to decide more in detail about their celebration. If some of our leadership could communicate with some of theirs before then, we could find a way to avoid putting our events at the same day and time.
Speaking of which, what time of day would be best? Moonrise typically occurrs at 21.00 realm time, should we go for 20.00? Or earlier?
I definitely think it should be held DURING the Harvest Festival, so sometime between the 16th and 22nd of this month...
As far as time is concerned...I work until 6 most evenings and until 9 thursdays and fridays...Unless otherwise told...
I imagine most people work until 6 and dont want to be rushing back home to an event...so I would suggest to hold the hunt around the 21:00 mark, perhaps even the 20:00...
A day however...Well possibly the 18th?...A Saturday evening but not too late?...
The 18th would work fine for me, at least as far as I know now. Let others have their say, and let's check with the 'Maidens as well.
Hmmm...Okay, I've spoken to Galataia of the Handmaidens and I've told her we have yet to sort out a date...
I was thinking the 18th but if Kallar can't make it I dont think its fair to have it then...
Open to date suggestions, perhaps the 17th or the 16th?...The beginning of the Harvest Festival?
I've also spoken to a Tauren from a guild called The Silvertail Tribe...
Her name is Wirha and she would be delighted to be a part of this event...
Her guild is only starting to get up and running but she has already held a very successful event and I believe she would be the best person for the job of storyteller...
See: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=14332966880&sid=1
We shall need to get everyones input of course on this event, so please leave your comments...
We're getting there and I think this event is capable of becoming something big...
I believe we should keep the cross faction side of this event a little secret amongst outselves, just for the surprise factor...Wink
There has been very little of that lately and I wouldnt mind seeing some unplanned RP Razz
Thank you Nauri!...That staff shall be farmed as of this evening...Anybody wishing to possess one, feel free to come online and we'll have at it!
Suggestion for designated hunting grounds for the different groups:
The Festival of Malorne Swxu7m
As you can see, that would make 6 areas. I've kept away from Forest song, as there's more demons and orcs than wildlife in that area. I've also kept from getting too close to the naga at the Zoram Strand and other hostiles.
Note that the area behind Splintertree is actually empty of all but wildlife and some resources.
Area 4 could possibly be changed a bit, to go closer to Raynewood and more clearly avoid the furbolgs.
Please discuss.
